Leadership Team

Our Pastoral Team is supported by a Board who provide leadership, oversight and encouragement at Riverton, helping the church to be effective in its ministry and mission.

The Board discerns God’s purpose and direction for the church, and orients its structure and mission to fit. In collaboration with the Pastoral team, they approve the key focus and goals of the church, monitor outcomes and resource ministry teams.

Wayne Field

Lead Pastor

Wayne serves as the Lead Pastor at Rivo and has been in pastoral leadership at Baptist Churches in Western Australia for over twenty years. Before commencing at Riverton Wayne served with Operation Mobilisation, working cross-culturally in more than 25 countries. Wayne is married to Jodie and they have three daughters. Wayne is an avid reader of biographies, travel adventure and history. He enjoys hiking, rarely holidays in the same place twice, and loves meeting people from other cultures.

He has a leadership background in both Alliance and Baptist churches in WA and, beyond his ministry at Rivo, Kenny also works as an Occupational Therapist. Sarah French

Director for Next Generation Ministry

Sarah leads our Next Generation Ministry overseeing the staff and volunteers working in kids, youth and young adult ministries, as well as our Sunday evening service. Sarah loves Jesus and is passionate about seeing the local church equipped to be all that it can be. A gifted and sought after communicator, Sarah has accepted invitations to speak at WA’s Fresh Conference and The Bible Society’s Masterclass. She is also a current participant in the Arrow Emerging Leaders Program. Sarah loves music and playing the acoustic guitar, hanging out at the beach, and reading Jamie Oliver cookbooks (but preferably never actually cooking from them!).

Pete Vermeulen

Ministry Team Leader for Youth

Pete serves at Riverton as the Ministry Team Leader for Youth, and is currently studying Events Management at Murdoch University. Pete is passionate about the gospel, young people and missional events that point people to Jesus. Pete also serves with the Next Generations department at the Baptist Churches of WA. In this role he is involved with Leaver’s Green Team, Sportsfest and Youth Camps, events which touch the lives of thousands of young people across the State. Pete loves fishing, camping and anything adventurous, but is never far from a good book. He is fluent in English, Afrikaans and Dutch (Flemish).

Sarah Field

Ministry Team Leader for Children

Sarah oversees the children’s ministry (0-11 years of age) at Riverton and is also currently pursuing a Bachelor of Early Childhood Education at the University of Notre Dame, Fremantle. Sarah loves to find creative ways to help children achieve their best potential in life and faith. Previously Sarah has served in children’s ministry programs both in Australia and the UK. She is never too far from a cafe or the beach (or both, preferably), and has recently taken up training in Mixed Martial Arts.

Jenni Robbins

Director of Worship Ministry

Jenni is our Director of Worship Ministry. She leads a team of some fifty musicians, technical crew and creative people to facilitate our public worship services and events. Jenni’s other passion, beyond Rivo, is her work as a chaplain with Baptistcare. With an insatiable love for both music and the local church, Jenni’s absolute favourite thing to do is to serve Jesus by leading others in worship. Jenni loves cold brew coffee, board games, reading and spends many of her long weekends hiking all over our beautiful state.
